Andalusian Horse Painting Retreat

Suitable for all levels – beginners to advanced painters, working in acrylics or oils.
Join me for a very special 6-night art retreat in the authentic mountain village of Villaluenga del Rosario, nestled in the dramatic limestone landscapes of Andalusia.
We’ll be staying at the beautiful Casa de los Cuadros, our home and studio space for the week.
With only 8 students, this retreat is designed to give you plenty of individual attention, creative breathing room, and a calm, friendly atmosphere to develop your equine painting skills and have an incredible experience.
Over four full days of expert tuition, we’ll dive deep into capturing the power, elegance, and expression of the Andalusian horse—a breed native to this region and famous for its beauty and spirit. Through demos, guided exercises, and personalised support, you’ll learn how to bring their movement & unique spirit into your work, along with a greater understanding of anatomy and specialised skills needed to bring them to life on canvas.

A Day of Adventure
Our week includes an unforgettable excursion to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez, where you’ll see these incredible horses up close in one of the most prestigious riding schools in the world. It’s a rare chance to observe their posture, form, and behaviour—perfect inspiration for your paintings.
A Free Day to Explore
You’ll also have one free day to wander, sketch, or simply soak up the scenery. The region is surrounded by breathtaking walking routes, rolling mountains, and other iconic Andalusian villages such as Ronda, Grazalema, and Zahara de la Sierra just a short hop away.
Alternatively you may also choose just to stay and enjoy the guest house to relax and/or paint.
What’s included:
✨ Six nights accommodation in a traditional Andalusian guesthouse - private room (or shared if preferred) with private ensuite.
✨ Non-painting partners welcome*
✨ Full board with delicious home-cooked meals, including breakfast, varied buffet lunch and three-course dinner each day (except on the free day, when only breakfast is provided - see below).
✨ Four full days of expert art tuition including live drawing/painting sessions with local Andalusian horses and studio sessions to develop your skills and bring your drawings to life in paint on canvas.
✨ One free day to explore a nearby village or simply relax and paint.
✨ An unforgettable excursion to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art in Jerez (including show).
✨ Transport to and from Malaga airport

Art Materials - a full list of basic requirements will be provided (much of which you may already own). Easels will be provided.
Optional excursions
Lunch and dinner on the free day (this allows you the opportunity to explore local cuisine in the cafes and restaurants nearby). If you are remaining at the guest house, there are two guest kitchens available for use.

Shared room with a friend who is also a participant: £1395 pp
*Non-painting companion:
£695 (including Jerez excursion)/
