It always amazes me - a grey horse is never really grey, but a multitude of other colours and tones. Some surprising tubes of colour come out to play even though it is a more limited palette overall. I had wanted to paint this beautiful image of Jasper for a long time – I was haunted by the way that his eye draws you in. The eyes are almost always the first thing that I will paint when I begin. They hold so much of the character and emotion - it's true when they say that the eyes are the window to the soul. Once I get the eyes right, with enough depth and intensity, then I feel that I can move on. Sometimes, just sometimes, when the magic is right, I can have a conversation with those eyes while I paint.
This beautiful limited edition reproduction comes in various sizes and is printed on delux Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta (Gloss) paper (325gms) using archival pigment inks to ensure a long life. The image is printed with a 25mm white border along all sides.
Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and carries my signature and the number of the edition. The prints are made to order by a Fine Art Trade Guild Accredited Printer, using the highest quality materials whose archival properties comply with museum quality standards.
