Realist artist capturing light, emotion and movement on canvas
to my world as I seek to capture light, emotion and movement through finely detailed portraiture in oils or charcoal.
My work endeavours to capture the spirit of a living soul, drawing you in through the expression in the eye and conveying both the softness and strength of its form.
The eye of my subject is truly the window to its soul and it is here that I will look for the character, emotion and often, the beginnings of a conversation. I will usually start a portrait here and will only move on once I feel that the eye is ‘alive’ with enough depth and intensity. Sometimes, just sometimes, when the magic is right, I can have a conversation with those eyes while I paint.
Originally from New Zealand, I am a realist artist now based in Berkshire, UK. Working mostly in charcoal or oils, I specialize in figurative paintings and drawings of people and animals with a very special love for equine and wildlife subjects.

“it was almost love at first sight. Looking at Tikob on Nikki”s Instagram videos, I just knew I had to see it in person. The details captured by Nikki, from the light reflecting on its coat, the definition of the veins in its face and muscles is what attracted me to this painting straight away. But what made me fall in love with Tikob was the way Nikki managed to capture its soul through the eyes. One year since having Tikob in my home, I still sit in front of it most days with a cup of coffee and gaze at this magnificent animal captured so brilliantly by Nikki.
An amazing bonus is the whole gift presentation and very professional Cerificate it came with.
Now Tikob just needs a companion…”
